Edge suffered a torn triceps while taping “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” against Randy Orton last week, which will air tonight on WWE Backlash. The news was first reported by Fightful and confirmed by Dave Meltzer.
The match was taped at the Performance Center on June 7 to allow WWE to edit out any kinks and help the match try to live up to its self-imposed extremely lofty expectations. The rest of the PPV is taking place live tonight.
The match was reportedly taped for 35 minutes, Meltzer reports, but it’s not clear how it will be edited. We also don’t yet know when the injury happened in the match.
It’s not publicly known yet how much time Edge will miss or if he’ll need surgery. If surgery is needed, a triceps injury typically requires about eight months of recovery time.
