The June 24th episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW suffer a very sizeable decline and NXT gaining a sizeable amount in viewership. NXT managed to top AEW in terms of overall viewership although AEW maintained their advantage in terms of key demographic rankings.
AEW Dynamite drew 633,000 viewers on TNT and a #17 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 786,000 viewers on USA Network and a #26 ranking in 18-49 demographic.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that due to a glitch and other issues from Nielsen on Wednesday, detailed breakdowns were not made available in time for his report. Despite Nielsen’s issues, some ratings-based information was still provided.
Meltzer reported that this week’s viewership was the lowest in AEW history on TNT while NXT managed to generate its second biggest audience of the year on USA Network. Meltzer also reported that the biggest difference makers were the over 50 demographic group that shifted huge in NXT’s direction and AEW suffering a very sizeable drop in the key demographic group.
AEW reportedly won only one quarter-hour in terms of overall viewership and six out of eight quarters in terms of key demographic viewership. NXT reportedly won the final two quarters for key demographic viewership.
Meltzer also reported that only the main event segment for both shows had their viewership revealed in Nielsen’s report. NXT reportedly had 852,000 viewers while AEW had 552,000 viewers.
