Sammy Guevara Returns
Sammy Guevara returned tonight on AEW Dynamite, one month after being suspended on June 22 for an off-hand comment he made on a podcast four years ago.
In the Dynamite main event, which featured Chris Jericho & Jake Hager taking on Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus, Guevara, dressed as AEW wrestler Serpentico, nailed Luchasaurus in the back with a baseball bat, which allowed Jericho and Hager to pick up the win. After the match, “Serpentico” hit Luchasaurus with a shooting star press, then took off his mask to reveal himself and embraced his Inner Circle stablemates in the ring.
Guevara will return to in-ring action on next week’s Dynamite, where all five members of the Inner Circle will wrestle in a 10-man tag match against Orange Cassidy, Best Friends, Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus.
Eddie Kingston Debuts
Eddie Kingston made his AEW debut tonight, answering Cody Rhodes’ TNT Championship open challenge to start the show.
He cut a good promo, then wrestled and ultimately lost a no DQ match against Cody.
Prior to tonight’s episode, it was hyped that Cody would face “one of the top independent wrestlers in the world.”
Kingston has previously wrestled for just about every major promotion but WWE and was most recently part of the relaunched NWA roster. In 2018, Kingston was in the “LAX” stable in Impact with AEW’s Santana and Ortiz.
