More on AEW vs. NXT Week 43 Viewership

The July 22nd episodes of AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT saw AEW generate their highest viewership since their March 18th episode while NXT saw mixed bag results for their show. AEW also managed to top NXT in terms of overall viewership and key demographic rankings.

AEW Dynamite drew 845,000 viewers on TNT and a #5 ranking in 18-49 demographic while NXT drew 615,000 viewers on USA Network and a #35 ranking in 18-49 demographic.

The results of the quarter-hour segment breakdowns were not revealed in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter but Dave Meltzer reported that in terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 409,000 viewers and NXT had 219,000 viewers. In terms of overall viewership, this week’s episode of NXT was the least viewed for the brand since their May 20th episode but was up 17.7% in key demographic viewers.

Meltzer reported that the lack of sports competition were a big reason for AEW’s viewership gains this week but starting next week, both AEW and NXT will be facing very stiff competition from NBA, NHL, MLB, and soccer for the remainder of the summer period.

AEW reportedly won every key demographic and held the biggest advantages in the Males 18-34 and Females 18-34 groups. AEW drew 71,000 viewers for Males 18-34 and 58,000 viewers for Females 18-34 compared to NXT’s 37,000 and 17,000 viewers for their respective groups.

NXT reportedly suffered their biggest decline in viewership with the Teenagers demographic group at 33.3% lower than last week’s episode.

As of Friday afternoon, the only known quarter-hour breakdown for bth shows was for the time period of 8:55PM to 9:00PM. AEW reportedly had 1,018,000 overall viewers and 502,000 key demographic viewers for the ending of the Young Bucks vs. The Butcher & The Blade Falls Count Anywhere match.
