Matt Cardona, the former Zack Ryder, appeared on tonight’s Impact Hard to Kill PPV, defeating Ace Austin by disqualification.
Austin came out to the ring to demand to be part of the X-Division Championship match later in the day, but Scott D’Amore came out and said that he has another opponent for Austin tonight, then introduced Cardona.
After wrestling for just a couple of minutes, Cardona looked poised to win the match, but Madman Fulton saved Austin, attacking Cardona and causing the DQ. Austin and Fulton attacked Cardona after the match, but he was eventually able to get the upper and and sent them retreating to the back.
After being released by WWE in April, Cardona had a brief stint with AEW from July to September, wrestling in two matches. Cardona never had a full AEW contract and his last match for them was at All Out in September.
I needed tonight. Thanks @ScottDAmore for the opportunity. Thanks @IMPACTWRESTLING. Thanks to all my fans! I’m #AlwayzReady…I’m #HardToKill…and I’m NOT DONE with @The_Ace_Austin & @FultonWorld! pic.twitter.com/2oMOAbp8w4
