William Regal promised two “major announcements” that would “change the landscape” of NXT on tonight’s show.
NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship
The first announcement was the creation of an NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez were crowned the first champions because they won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and lost to Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler last week in a WWE Women’s Tag Team title match in a controversial fashion.
However, Kai and Gonzalez had to defend their new titles later in the show against Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon, who Kai and Gonzalez defeated in the Dusty Classic final, and Blackheart and Moon won the match to become the new champions via a rollup by Blackheart on Kai.
NXT TakeOver
The second announcement was that there will be a two night NXT TakeOver on Wednesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 8 called “NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.”
The Wednesday show will air in NXT’s usual TV time slot on the USA Network at 8 PM ET, and the Thursday show will air on Peacock in the US and WWE Network outside the US.
