As noted before, WWE’s NXT brand was recently hit with another COVID-19 outbreak leading to the original plans for this past Wednesday’s episode of NXT to be changed.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Paul “Triple H” Levesque was among those affected by the recent outbreak. Meltzer reported that his sources stated that Levesque did not contract the coronavirus but he has been put in quarantine as a precautionary measure. Levesque reportedly was not backstage during this past Monday’s episode of RAW nor this past Wednesday’s episode of NXT. Shawn Michaels and “Road Dogg” Brian James reportedly were in charge of running NXT this week.
Other notable names missing backstage from this past Wednesday’s tapings of NXT reportedly were referee Drake Wuertz, Pete Dunne, Timothy Thatcher, Alexander Wolfe, Wes Lee, Carter Nash, Zack Gibson, James Drake, Leon Ruff, Isaiah Scott, Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Indi Hartwell. In regards to Lee, Nash, Gibson, Drake, Gargano, and LeRae, all were featured in segments on the show that were zoomed in.
NXT’s recent outbreak was originally believed to have been caused by an incident on March 11th involving several NXT talent helping to set up and move ring equipment from a nearby building to the Performance Center. Meltzer reported that WWE officials now currently believe that some who had gotten sick likely contracted the coronavirus from an earlier incident instead. Several who had fallen sick on March 12th reportedly caused WWE officials to feel differently about the source of the outbreak since under the current medical belief, it takes at least two days from exposure for sickness symptoms to appear.
