More on WWE NXT Viewership for May 18
The May 18th episode of WWE NXT saw NXT rose slightly in overall viewership but also suffered a decline in key demographic ratings.
NXT drew 700,000 viewers and a 0.15 key demographic rating. NXT’s key demographic ranking is currently not known due to Showbuzz Daily’s on-going technical issues with their website.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that NXT’s demographic rating this week was their lowest ever for an unopposed show since their move to the USA Network. Meltzer reported that when factoring in same day DVR viewership, the split for this week’s episode was 623,000 live viewers and the rest who watched it via DVR.
In terms of key demographic viewership, NXT had 199,000 viewers. NXT’s sole increase was with their Females 18-34 group at 42.1% higher than last week’s show. NXT’s biggest decrease was their Males 18-34 group at 36.7% lower than last week’s show.
In terms of yearly comparisons, NXT was up 18.2% in overall viewership and up 15.7% in key demographic viewership.
WWE NXT started off with around 652,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the Cameron Grimes vs. Jake Atlas match which gained 54,000 viewers. NXT’s biggest decline of the night was the Bobby Fish interview segment, the Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell spa segment, the Johnny Gargano & Austin Theory interview segment, the Aliyah vs. Sarray match, and the Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon promo segment which lost 29,000 viewers. NXT’s overrun gained an additional 37,000 viewers to end the night.

The May 19th episode of AEW Dynamite saw AEW suffer a noticeable decline in overall viewership and in key demographic ratings.
AEW drew 821,000 viewers and a 0.28 key demographic rating. AEW’s key demographic ranking is currently not known due to Showbuzz Daily’s on-going technical issues with their website.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW’s show this week was hit the hardest in their younger male viewership due to stiff competition from the start of the NBA Playoffs. Meltzer reported that AEW’s demographic rating this week was their lowest ever for an unopposed show. Meltzer also reported that when factoring in same day DVR viewership, the split for this week’s episode was 665,000 live viewers and the rest who watched it via DVR.
In regards to head-to-head competition, the NBA game of San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzles on ESPN drew 2,293,000 viewers. The West Coast airing of Dynamite went up against the NBA game of Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers on ESPN which drew 5,618,000 viewers and peaked at around 6,149,000 viewers during the last thirty minutes of Dynamite’s show.
In terms of key demographic viewership, AEW had 362,000 viewers. AEW’s sole increase was with their Females 18-34 group at 2.2% higher than last week’s show. AEW’s biggest decrease was their Males 18-34 group at 33.7% lower than last week’s show.
In terms of yearly comparisons, AEW was up 17.1% in overall viewership and up 7.4% in key demographic viewership.
AEW Dynamite started off with around 839,000 viewers and their biggest gain of the night was the AEW World Tag Team Championship match of the Varsity Blonds vs. Young Bucks which gained 90,000 viewers. AEW’s biggest decline of the night was the Miro & Lance Archer promo segment and next week’s show card advertisement promo segment which lost 60,000 viewers.
