AEW reportedly is currently worried that the on-going surge in COVID-19 cases in the United States could cause major disruptions for their upcoming big events, according to BodySlam.net.
BodySlam.net’s Cassidy Haynes reported that his sources within the company stated that AEW officials have recently grown concerned that their plans for their upcoming big events in Chicago, New York, and elsewhere could be facing major disruptions within the near future.
AEW officials reportedly have held talks over the past week discussing the current situation over the surge in COVID cases in the country and the potential of having to return to Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida for another prolonged stay.
Haynes reported that one of his sources stated that the general feeling backstage is one of an “all hands on deck” type situation but “ultimately Tony has to make a decision about what is right for the talent, staff, and [especially] the fans.” The major concern is that with the CDC going back to recommending mask wearing, it may only be a matter of time before they recommend the banning of large gatherings again.
In regards to upcoming events, AEW officials reportedly are currently the most concerned over the status of their upcoming major events in Chicago and New York City, since both cities have been proactive when it comes to enacting preventative measures for the coronavirus pandemic.
Haynes reported that AEW officials are currently continuing with their existing plans but are also paying close and constant attention to what local government officials in Chicago, Cook County, and other parts of the country are doing to combat the on-going surge of COVID-19 in the US.
