New Champions Crowned at SummerSlam
Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2021 event in Las Vegas, Nevada featured seven championships defended on the show’s ten-match card. Four of the seven championships changed hands throughout the night.
The new champions crowned at SummerSlam 2021 were:
- Randy Orton & Riddle defeated Omos & AJ Styles for the RAW Tag Team Championship
- Damian Priest defeated Sheamus for the United States Championship
- Becky Lynch defeated Bianca Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
- Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H. for the RAW Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch & Brock Lesnar Make Surprise Returns at SummerSlam
Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2021 event also featured the returns of Becky Lynch and Brock Lesnar.
Prior to the start of the SmackDown Women’s Championship match, WWE announced that Sasha Banks was pulled from the show and Carmella would be the replacement challenger for Bianca Belair’s scheduled title match. Before the match could start, Lynch made her surprise return and attacked Carmella to set up a title match between her and Belair instead, which Belair accepted. Lynch won the SmackDown Women’s Championship in a quick squash match.
Following the end of the Universal Championship match between John Cena and Roman Reigns, Lesnar made his surprise return to WWE. Lesnar confronted Reigns teasing a potential Universal title feud between the two before Reigns left with Paul Heyman leaving Lesnsr standing tall in the ring to close out the show.
