More on Unvaccinated Releases
It was reported last night that at least five of the 18 wrestlers released by WWE may have been released partly because they were unvaccinated for COVID-19.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the number of unvaccinated wrestlers who were released yesterday is actually larger than five.
Wrestlers who were released did not have their vaccine status mentioned as the reason, though, and were told that it was due to “budget cuts.”
Trial Contracts
There’s talk in WWE that wrestlers who sign contracts starting next year will be given 60-day trial contracts and would be signed to full-time deals if they were impressive enough during their trial run, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
This rule would likely not apply to “top prospects” that WWE signs, the Observer added.
WWE Looking for Younger Wrestlers
WWE is looking to recruit younger, bigger and more athletic people going forward, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
There’s a feeling in WWE that they don’t have enough talent in their 20s on TV.
Specifically for women, there’s a new “directive” that recommends primarily hiring women who are 25 and younger.
