Cody Rhodes is scheduled to undergo surgery on his torn pectoral muscle this Wednesday, WWE announced tonight on Raw.
It’s unclear how much time he may miss, but based on similar injuries in wrestling in the past, it’s possible that he could be back in time for the Royal Rumble, which is over seven months away. Triple H suffered a torn pec at Crown Jewel in November 2018 and was able to wrestle five months later at WrestleMania against Batista. John Cena suffered a badly torn pec in October 2007 and was able to return less than four months later at the Royal Rumble, thought it was said that his recovery was way ahead of schedule.
Cody addressed the crowd last night after Hell in a Cell, saying that wrestling with the injury was solely his decision.
“No one convinced me with a torn pec to come out here. It is solely my decision. You would have had to literally kill me from staying away from this ring. Ten times out of ten, I would have made the same decision. Going on last, Allstate Arena in Chicago, you paid your money! You guys have believed in me and you didn’t have to. Please know from the bottom of my heart, I believe in you, we are going to finish this thing. Thank you all very much, have a great night, and I love you, thank you.”
