During this past Sunday’s Dominion 2022 event, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the full field of competitors for this year’s G1 Climax tournament.
This year’s tournament will take place from July 16th to August 18th and the winner to earn a title shot for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at next year’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event.
NJPW also announced that this year’s tournament will feature the largest field ever in G1 Climax history at 28 competitors broken down into four group blocks. This will be the first time that a G1 Climax tournament will feature a four block setup since 2000.
This year’s tournament was also revealed to be featuring several competitors from AEW and NJPW’s Strong brand among the 28-man field.
