This past Saturday’s WWE WrestleMania 39 Night 1 show in Los Angeles, California featured a SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Rhea Ripley and champion Charlotte Flair, which was won by Ripley.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that Flair is currently expected to be taking a break from WWE following this past weekend’s WrestleMania 39 event. Johnson reported that Flair held talks with WWE officials during WrestleMania weekend over her plans to take some time off from the company.
Those spoken to reportedly stated that WWE officials’ decision to have Ripley defeat Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship had been made before Flair requested some time off. Johnson reported that Flair is currently not expected to make an appearance at this Friday’s SmackDown show in Portland, Oregon.
Flair reportedly had informed others backstage that she was planning to go on a vacation trip with her husband and AEW talent Andrade El Idolo.
Flair previously had been on a break from WWE from this past May to this past December due to being granted time off for marriage-related reasons and dental-related issues.
