WWE reportedly currently has plans for the potential debut of a new championship belt in the company soon, according to Fightful Select.
It was reported that their sources stated that WWE officials have been working on plans as of Thursday evening for the June 2nd SmackDown to potentially feature the official debut of a new championship belt. It was reported that this reveal would take place during the currently scheduled 1,000 Day Celebration segment for Roman Reigns for his Universal title reign on the show.
While it was reported that these plans are subject to change, those spoken to stated that recent memos within WWE’s creative mentioned a “New WWE Universal Championship” for the segment that would involve the use of a podium where this new belt would be officially revealed.
It was reported that WWE’s plans for the presentation for this new championship belt were stated by their sources to resemble when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had unveiled the new WWE Championship belt design in 2013.
