As noted before, WWE has been working on plans to potentially debut a new championship belt for Roman Reigns as part of his scheduled 1,000 Days Celebration segment at Friday’s SmackDown show in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
During Friday’s SmackDown show, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque came out to the ring and gave a promo stating that Reigns’ current historic title reign as Undisputed WWE Universal Champion would be something that would be talked about for generations. As part of his speech, a podium was also in the ring with a title belt covered by a cloth.
Levesque then called out Reigns to congratulate him on his milestone of 1,000 days as champion and stated that he joined a very exclusive group with Hulk Hogan, Pedro Morales, and Bruno Sammartino as the only guys in WWE history to have a title reign of that length and longer. Levesque then presented Reigns with a new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship belt in honor of the special occasion.
