Sunday’s Dominion 2023 for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Osaka, Japan featured a NEVER 6-Man Tag Team Championship match between Shota Umino, Claudio Castagnoli, & Jon Moxley and champions Tomohiro Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and Kazuchika Okada.
Prior to the start of the show, NJPW had announced that Castagnoli was dealing with travel delay issues for his flight to Japan. This issue is currently believed to be due to a typhoon that recently landed in the country. NJPW also announced that they had made a change to the order of the show’s card to give Castagnoli some extra time in order to make his scheduled appearance at the event.
This match resulted in Okada hitting Umino with a Rainmaker for the pinfall victory to retain the NEVER 6-Man Tag Team titles for his team.
Following the match, Moxley got on the mic and stated that he had a message from someone to give to Okada. This was revealed to be in the form of a video promo by Bryan Danielson, who called out Okada and challenged him to a match.

Okada responded accepting Danielson’s challenge saying that the “forbidden door” is going to be opened, revealing in the process that this match will be taking place at AEW and NJPW’s Forbidden Door II event later this month.
