As noted before, Jon Moxley suffered an unknown injury at Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam 2023 show at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York. Moxley suffered the injury during his match against Rey Fenix for the AEW International Championship.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez reported in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that their sources stated that Moxley is believed to have suffered a mild concussion injury.
This injury reportedly took place early in the match following Fenix’s dive off the stage ramp and over a cameraman and hit Moxley in the head. Moxley reportedly was stated to be “banged up” afterwards but continued to work through his injury for the remainder of the match.
In regards to Fenix winning the AEW International title, Alvarez reported that this was not AEW officials original plans for the match and instead an audible was called by Moxley after he was not able to continue following Fenix’s first Fenix Driver spot.
