Jerry Lawler’s WWE Broadcast Deal Reportedly Not Renewed

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler reportedly is no longer with WWE, according to PWInsider.

Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE had quietly declined to renew Lawler’s broadcast contract with the company. Those spoken to reportedly stated that Lawler’s contract had expired at the beginning of 2024.

Johnson reported that the general reaction within WWE over Lawler’s departure was one of surprise. One source spoken to reportedly stated that under the previous ownership, Lawler would have always been “taken care of” and be connected with WWE in some way contractually but this is a “new era.” This same source reportedly also stated that “The old company is dead. People can say they hate Vince [McMahon] and Kevin [Dunn] all they want, and they’d be right to do so, but certain people would have been taken care of.  Lawler would have been one, but this isn’t the old WWE.  Howard Finkel, God bless him, wouldn’t have had a job for life here anymore, either.”

Johnson also reported that one WWE source who contacted him stated that Lawler would still be under a WWE Legends deal with the company.

Prior to his departure, Lawler had worked for WWE since December of 1992.
