WWE officials reportedly currently have plans in place for Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul’s next high profile matches to take place at this August’s SummerSlam 2024 event in Cleveland, Ohio instead of this July’s Money in the Bank 2024 event in Toronto, Canada, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that WWE officials have earmarked for Cody Rhodes to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam 2024. Meltzer reported that WWE officials also have earmarked for Logan Paul to defend his WWE United States Championship against LA Knight in front of his hometown crowd at SummerSlam 2024 as well.
In regards to other potential matches being planned for this year’s SummerSlam event, Meltzer reported that WWE officials are also currently hopeful of having Drew McIntyre compete in a match against CM Punk at the event. Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that it is currently up in the air if Punk would be ready for an in-ring return by that date. Those spoken to stated that Punk could be ready but it is currently not a sure thing at the moment.
In regards to matches currently confirmed for this year’s SummerSlam card, these are a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match and WWE Women’s Championship. At the moment, this would be Gunther vs. Damian Priest for the WWE World title and Nia Jax vs. Bayley for the WWE Women’s title due to Gunther and Jax both earning title shots for being the winners of this year’s King and Queen of the Ring tournaments.
