As noted before, Shane McMahon was rumored to have recently reached out to AEW talents about the idea of him potentially joining AEW in the future. This was something that was later revealed to have been a surprise to both those within AEW and WWE and something that they had heard nothing about this nor was it meant to be serious but AEW CEO Tony Khan has the door open for McMahon to potentially join the company.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that AEW TBS and NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone was seen with McMahon earlier today at the Laguardia Airport in New York City, New York. Mone and McMahon reportedly spoke to each on while on their way to their respective flights.
One source spoken to reportedly confirmed that Mone and McMahon had talked about AEW. No other details regarding this talk between the two was given.
In regards to Sunday’s Forbidden Door 2024 event, Johnson reported that McMahon was not seen backstage at last night’s AEW event. McMahon reportedly currently lives in the New York City area.
Johnson reported that it is currently not known if Mone will discuss this surprise meeting she had with McMahon in her fan Newsletter.
