AEW reportedly is currently interested in making a match for a future show that was originally just a social media hoax, according to the Wrestling Observer Radio.
A fake match graphic was posted by a user on Twitter prior to Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in San Jose, California implying a new match had been announced featuring Konosuke Takeshita defending his AEW International Championship against CMLL talent Mascara Dorada.

This match graphic was never posted on AEW’s official account nor AEW CEO Tony Khan’s official account on Twitter but was convincing enough to have fooled PWInsider who reported the match as being legit for the show. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson later issued an apology and took down the report after claiming that one of his readers had sent him word of this match and he was too busy to properly fact check due to him recording a podcast show for the website at the time.
Dave Meltzer reported that his sources stated that AEW officials are currently very interested in making a potential match between Dorada and Takeshita following the hoax. Meltzer reported that the fake match graphic had spurred an idea in people’s heads within AEW and they love the idea of having that potential match for a show. Meltzer reported that it is currently not known if this potential match will be happening any time soon.
Dorada last wrestled for AEW this past February and made his official in-ring debut appearance for the company this past January.
