As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit this past January against former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. Grant’s lawsuit has been on hold since this past April due to the U.S. Department of Justice launching a criminal investigation into McMahon and joined the lawsuit as an “interested party.”
The office of the U.S. Attorney of the Southern District of New York announced earlier today that U.S. Attorney Damian Williams will be resigning from his position on December 13th.
Williams’ resignation comes in advance of President-elect Donal Trump officially entering office in January of 2025 and Trump nominated Jay Clayton for Williams’ current position.
Williams currently overseeing the Department of Justice’s investigation into McMahon, which its stay on Grant’s lawsuit is set to expire on December 11th.
Following the announcement, a representative for Grant issued an official statement on Twitter.
“The stay on Janel Grant’s case will expire on Dec. 11th. Before he leaves, we hope Damian Williams will hold @VinceMcMahon & @JohnLaurinaitis accountable to the fullest extent of the law for the abuse Janel endured. She deserves her day in court.”
