As noted before, Drew McIntyre made his surprise return to WWE at Monday’s WWE RAW show in Everett, Washington. Prior to his return, McIntyre had been out of action since this back October due to a head injury and family-related reasons.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that McIntyre’s return was something that was not expected to happen this soon.
Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that the current belief backstage was that the ankles injury suffered by Bronson Reed at this past Saturday’s Survivor Series WarGames 2024 event led to plans for McIntyre’s return to be sped up and him returning a few weeks earlier than initially planned.
Johnson also reported that McIntyre had been originally advertised for WWE’s holiday week live events, including the Madison Square Garden event, later this month so he would have made his in-ring return by then and likely his on-screen return by the RAW premiere show on Netflix.
