Ring Boys Scandal Lawsuit Against WWE, TKO, Vince McMahon, & Linda McMahon Update – Judge Grants WWE & TKO’s Motion to Pause Lawsuit

As noted before, a lawsuit was filed this past October against WWE, WWE’s parent company TKO Group, former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, and Linda McMahon on behalf of the survivors of the infamous WWE Ring Boys scandal in 1992. WWE and TKO had filed a motion this past Monday requesting for the lawsuit to be put on pause until the Maryland Supreme Court issues a ruling on the constitutionality of the Maryland Child Victims Act.

Wrestlenomics and Post Wrestling’s Brandon Thurston reported that federal judge James K. Bredar issued a ruling earlier today granting WWE and TKO’s request for the lawsuit to be put on a stay until the Maryland Supreme Court makes their ruling.

In his ruling, Bredar agreed with the defendants on the claims against them “depends entirely on the constitutionality of the CVA.”

“The Complaint raises allegations regarding sexual abuse committed in the 1980s, and the timeliness of the claims depends on the Maryland Child Victims Act of 2023 (‘CVA’). As Defendants [WWE] explain, the viability of Plaintiffs’ [the ring boys’] claims ‘depends entirely on the constitutionality of the CVA’.”

Thurston reported that as a result of the ruling, WWE and Vince and Linda McMahon no longer will be required to respond further to the allegations against them in the lawsuit until the Maryland Supreme Court issues its ruling.
