As noted before, John Cena will be holding a retirement tour for his in-ring wrestling career in 2025. Next year’s WrestleMania 41 event will be the final WrestleMania match of Cena’s career.
WrestleVotes reported that their sources stated that while there have been rumors of a potential match between Cena and Logan Paul for WrestleMania 41, this idea has been met with resounding disapproval from several within WWE’s creative. It was reported that the general idea within WWE is that a match with Paul shouldn’t be Cena’s final WrestleMania match.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that his sources confirmed that there had been talks regarding a potential match between Cena and Paul but this is something that is 100% not happening. Meltzer reported that this match was something that Paul had asked for WrestleMania 41. Meltzer also reported that those spoken to stated that WWE officials have had talks as far back as a month ago about the idea of Cena challenging for a World title to break Ric Flair’s World Championship record of 16 recognized reigns.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that WWE officials have held recent talks regarding Cena competing in a World title match at WrestleMania 41. Johnson reported that those spoken to stated that the current majority of talks within WWE have revolved around the idea of a match between Cena and Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Johnson also reported that those spoken to also stated that these plans could also change and are entirely dependent on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s status for WrestleMania 41.
