AEW recently made a change to the airing listing for their upcoming AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Australia event on February 15th at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia.
During the January 15th AEW Dynamite Maximum Carnage show, AEW aired a graphic for the AEW Women’s World Championship match that listed their upcoming Grand Slam show as starting at 8PM EST on TNT and MAX. In an updated graphic posted by AEW on Twitter, the start time for this upcoming show was removed. This quickly led to online confusion and speculation over the airing status for AEW’s upcoming show.
Dave Meltzer reported in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the reason for the recent time change removal is due to TNT will be airing this year’s NBA All-Star Saturday event on the network starting at 8PM EST that night.
Meltzer reported that those spoken to stated that AEW and TNT officials current plan is for the Grand Slam Australia show to immediately air after the end of TNT’s NBA coverage.
Meltzer also reported that AEW’s upcoming show starts at 5:30PM local time in Brisbane on Saturday which would be a start time of 2:30AM EST on Friday in the United States. Meltzer reported that this would mean a 21-hour tape delay for the TNT broadcast version on Saturday and it is currently not known if MAX will be airing the event live or at the same time as TNT.
In regards to viewership and ratings for the show, Meltzer reported that the show is expected to draw a gigantic lead-in due to the NBA but the show would be airing very late on TNT in return.
Meltzer also reported that it is currently not known if WWE will be moving their NXT Vengeance Day 2025 event to a different date due to it currently being scheduled to go head-to-head against the 2025 NBA All-Star Saturday event that night.
