A recent issue of the Mone Mag fan newsletter featured Mercedes Mone giving her thoughts about how her time in AEW has reignited her fire, passion, and deep-seated love of wrestling.
“Can you believe it? It’s been a year since I embarked on this incredible journey with AEW! Time truly does fly, and I can confidently say this has been one of the most transformative years of my career. AEW has reignited my fire, passion, and deep-seated love for this sport. It has been a beacon of hope for me, and I am endlessly grateful to AEW and Tony Khan for this opportunity!
I am privileged to share the ring with the absolute best women in the world—strong, fierce competitors who push me to elevate my game day in and day out. And let’s not forget the men; their relentless drive inspires me to strive for greatness beyond compare.”
Mone also gave her thoughts about her TBS Championship match against Momo Watanabe at AEW’s Revolution 2025 event earlier this month and the kick Watanabe gave that hit her throat.
“Nothing prepared me for that kick that landed right on my jaw and throat. I instantly grabbed my face, praying nothing was broken. Panic set in for a moment—I could barely speak or swallow—but I knew we were nearing the finish line.
I woke up the day after the AEW Revolution, and my throat was sore af, and my voice was so raspy I could probably audition for a horror movie.”
Mone also gave her thoughts about how her match against Indi Hartwell at House of Glory’s event was originally planned to be a mixed tag team match.
“Initially, the plan was a mixed tag team match, but life has its own plans—my partner welcomed a beautiful baby just a day before the show! The match transformed into a singles bout against Indi Hartwell, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. I first met Indi back in 2016 at a gym in Australia while on tour with WWE. She approached me, expressing how my match with Bayley in Brooklyn inspired her to pursue wrestling. Fast forward nine years, and I was sharing the ring with her. That’s the magic of wrestling!”
