Indie Wrestling Hall of Famer and ECW legend Sabu, real name Terrance Michael Brunk, recently passed away at the age of 60.
Brunk’s passing was first announced by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson who reported that additional details regarding Sabu’s passing are currently not known.
Brunk’s professional wrestling career spanned from 1985 to 2025 and was most known for his work under the ring name of Sabu. Brunk was trained by his uncle Ed “The Sheik” Farhat, also known as The Original Sheik.
Brunk was also most known for his time in ECW, first under its Eastern Championship Wrestling name from 1993 to 1995 and later under its more well known name of Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1995 to 2000. Besides ECW, Brunk also had notable stints in Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling, TNA Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, WCW, and WWE. Brunk also made several appearances in AEW.
In the ring, Brunk was most known for his work as a hardcore wrestler and as one of its innovators of the style in the United States wrestling scene. During his time in ECW, Brunk was known for his time teaming up with Taz and Rob Van Dam and his memorable feuds with both. Outside of ECW, Sabu was also known for his memorable feuds with Tarzan Goto and Atsushi Onita in FMW.
Brunk last wrestled this past April for the final match of his wrestling career against Joey Janela at this past April’s GCW Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 event.
Brunk’s wrestling career achievements and accolades included being a two-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, one -time ECW World Television Champion, one-time FTW Champion, three-time ECW World Tag Team Champion, one time WWA Martial-Arts Tag Team Champion, one-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion (Florida), one-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and inductions into the Hardcore (2009) and Indie (2024) Hall of Fames.
