As noted before, former WWE employee Janel Grant filed a lawsuit in January of 2024 against former TKO Executive Chairman Vince McMahon accusing McMahon of committing sex trafficking and sexual abuse towards her during her time in the company. Besides McMahon, WWE and former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis were also named defendants in the lawsuit. Grant filed a new amended lawsuit this past February detailing new evidence and claims against McMahon, Laurinaitis, WWE, and others. Prior to her new amended lawsuit, Grant’s lawyers had filed petition against a WWE Wellness doctor named Carlon Colker and his clinic this past July for medical records related to her lawsuit.
Post Wrestling and Wrestlenomic’s Brandon Thurston reported that Connecticut state court Judge Colleen Zingaro ruled on Monday denying Colker’s motion request to dismiss the petition filed against him by Grant based on recent court records.
Thurston reported that the court’s ruling now makes way for Grant to continue to pursue evidence from Colker and his Peak Wellness Clinic for her sex trafficking and sexual abuse lawsuit against McMahon and others.
Thurston also reported that this case involving Grant and Colker is a “state-level pre-suit bill of discovery action in the Connecticut Superior Court that’s separate from Grant’s federal lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis.” Thurston also reported that this case is also separate from Colker’s defamation lawsuit he recently filed against Grant’s attorney Ann Callis.
Thurston also reported that this court ruling allows Grant to conduct discovery, seeking documents, possible communications with McMahon, and possible testimony from Colker and his clinic, and to consider whether to bring civil claims against those parties.
Thurston also reported that when contacted for comments, Grant’s representatives had pointed to the portion of the judge’s order that notes Grant is currently considering potential claims, including “civil conspiracy, aiding and abetting, fraud, assault, battery, RICO, RICO conspiracy, and/or breach of fiduciary duty” in her petition.
