The Beast Mortos Comments on His Arena Mexico Return & Being Thankful to Tony Khan & Salvador Lutteroth
As noted before, AEW CEO Tony Khan had met with CMLL CEO Salvador Luttheroth Lomeli to request for The Beast Mortos be allowed to compete at this past Wednesday’s AEW Grand Slam Mexico show despite CMLL’s rules banning Mortos from competing at their venue and at shows with CMLL talents.
The Beast Mortos recently reflected on Twitter about him getting to make a return to Arena Mexico for AEW’s Grand Slam Mexico show and him being thankful to both Khan and Luttheroth for making it possible.
“I can’t find the words to describe how blessed I am because last Wednesday something unexpected came into my life and my professional career. I stepped foot in the cathedral of wrestling again after 14 years, where this wonderful dream began. Not only that, I had the opportunity for my family (my mother, nephews, and my son) to see me for the first time in my career at a big event and in an arena like the Mexico City Arena. I also want to thank @tonyrkhan and Mr. Salvador Lutterot for the opportunity to make this possible and for this dream to continue. I also want to thank my special person who came into my life as a beautiful blessing and who was also there to support me. And of course, I’m grateful to all the fans who are always there supporting me. And above all, I’m grateful to God. Ecclesiastes 3:1.”
AEW Reportedly Delayed Plans for Christian Cage & Cope Reunion at All In Texas
AEW reportedly recently delayed their plans for a potential Christian Cage and Adam Copeland reunion match for this July’s All In Texas event, according to Fightful Select.
Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that his sources stated that AEW officials had been working on plans to reunite Cage and Adam Copeland for a tag team match against FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood).
Those spoken to reportedly stated that the reason why AEW officials delayed their plans was due to Cage wanting to wrap up his own storyline with The Patriarchy first. Cage reportedly wants to tie up all possible loose ends with Nick Wayne due to putting so much time and effort into their on-going on-screen relationship. This reportedly was the reason why Cage announced on the June 21st AEW Collision show that he wanted to team up with Wayne and challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
In regards to Copeland, Sapp reported that many people within AEW did not expect him to be away from the ring for so long. AEW officials reportedy had talks about the potential of him returning at this past May’s Double or Nothing 2025 event to confront FTR to commence their feud.
Sapp also reported that AEW officials plans for a FTR vs. Cage & Cope match also lead to them halting plans for FTR to turn heel on The Outrunners in late 2024.
