Athena Comments on Her Being a “Sicko” Over Her Love of Wrestling & Wanting to Get a Spot at AEW All In Texas
Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned held a recent interview with current ROH Women’s World Champion Athena. One of the topics discussed included Athena’s thoughts about how she is a “sicko” in regards to her love of wrestling.
“I tell him (Tony Khan) that all the time — I’m a sicko,” she says. “I love wrestling. I still watch pro wrestling. I’ll watch 14 hours of PWG, old ROH from 2003 to 2006, which is my era. I love that pro wrestling, in general, is always consistently changing, consistently evolving. There’s always something to learn. There’s always a new trick to do. There’s always a new move to invent. When I first started wrestling, I never wanted to do the same thing two days in a row.”
In a separate recent interview with the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Athena gave her thoughts about her being very hopeful about having a spot at AEW’s All In Texas event in her hometown state.
“Honestly, at this point, I might just snatch someone bald and throw them into a locker to take that spot. I mean, it’s my home — it’s my town. I want to be able to perform in a stadium show because I haven’t really had the opportunity to do that. So, I’m extremely hopeful.”
Tony Khan Comments on His Praise of Swerve Strickland in AEW
Yahoo Sports’ Uncrowned held a recent interview with AEW CEO Tony Khan. One of the topics discussed included Khan’s thoughts about his praise of Swerve Strickland’s work in wrestling and his star rise in AEW.
“He arrived in AEW with a strong reputation as an excellent wrestler, and he’s become a bigger and bigger wrestling star. Each year he has been here, he’s appeared in some of the most important AEW matches, and his star continues to rise because he’s one of the hardest working wrestlers,
He’s very respected by his peers and through his hard work and his remarkable skill. So Strickland has been able to evolve himself into one of the most dynamic and exciting top stars in pro wrestling today.”
