Lilian Garcia Pulled from WWE Evolution 2 Due to Respiratory Issue

Lilian Garcia announced earlier today on Instagram that she will not be able to perform her ring announcing duties for tonight’s WWE Evolution 2 event due to a lingering respiratory health issue.

Garcia stated that ring announcer Alicia Taylor will be filling in for her for the show.

“Hey guys, life is definitely a funny thing. As you guys know, I was planning to announce Evolution tonight, but I have some breaking news that I won’t be able to announce.

So what happened is, is some weeks ago, I had a respiratory infection, and I thought I was completely healed, but when I announced Saturday Night’s Main Event last night, it flared up — my vocal cords did, my respiratory, whatever it is in there — and so now I’m a little bit worse, and I can’t push it. I can’t announce tonight or a lot of damage could be done.

So big shout-out to Alicia, who’s coming in. I’m really grateful to her. She’s just a rock star, and I’m just so excited to be able to support in a different way. These women, since I got here in ’99, the evolution that I have seen of the women in this industry is absolutely incredible.

So big shout-out to all the women. So proud of everybody, and thanks to all you fans that really do embrace the women in this industry as well. I’m going to be watching this from a safe place where I can stay quiet, and I’m going to heal up, and I will be back. All right. Much peace, love, and passion to you guys. Love you.”

Cody Rhodes Comments on WWE Holding Saudi Events Being “Our Business is Going Where the Show Goes”

The Boston Herald held a recent interview with Cody Rhodes. One of the topics discussed included Rhodes’ thoughts about WWE holding events in Saudi Arabia despite the negative online backlash and criticisms each time.

“That is a responsibility to our fan base. I don’t want to be negative, but I will say there is this whole ‘gotcha culture’ over who is a Democrat, who is a Republican, who is a moderate, and who people support. None of these things really should be anybody’s business – because our business is going where our show goes, which is all over the world, and hopefully bringing people together.

WWE is a non-partisan brand. We go where the show goes. One of the biggest eye-opening moments when you go to Saudi Arabia with WWE is when you look out at the fans at the show, at the meet and greets, or outside the hotel – and there is such a similarity between those who are hungry for WWE back home and those who are hungry for it in Europe and those who are so hungry for it all over the world. I feel so honored, especially in tumultuous times, to be able to go.”

Kelly Kelly Says She Turned Down Evolution 2 Appearance to Sit In Crowd

In a recent response to a fan, former WWE wrestler Kelly Kelly, real name Barbie Blank, stated on Twitter that she recently turned down an invitation from WWE for an appearance at their Evolution 2 event. Kelly stated that this appearance would have been just her sitting in the crowd and felt it was not the right way for her WWE return appearance.

This fan stated “@TheBarbieBlank I want to let you know all of your fanbase will always be there for you. Me personally, None of the female wrestlers ever got me to enjoy watching as much as you did. You’re just on a whole another place for everyone of your fans.🤍 #WWEEvolution.” Kelly responded stating “Thank you love 🥹,I was So honored to be invited to Evolution II, to sit in the crowd it just didn’t feel like the right way to come back. I’ll always be proud to have been part of the first, my heart is with every woman in that ring tomorrow. I’ll be back when the time’s right❤️
