Kurt Angle Comments on WWE Partnering with TNA & Potential of WWE Buying TNA Library

A recent episode of the Mic Check with Ken Anderson podcast featured former TNA and WWE wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Angle’s thoughts about WWE’s current working partnership with TNA Wrestling and his belief that WWE will end up buying the TNA tape library.

“I was actually really excited, to be honest with you. I think I never thought in a million years, especially when we were competing against WWE, when Ken and I was at TNA, I never thought in a million years WWE would ever partner up with TNA, and the thing is, the reason why I love it, because I know eventually the WWE is going to buy the TNA library, and the WWE will now own all the Kurt Angle footage at TNA. The WWE fans are going to be able to have access to it. You know, I’m going to tell you right now, I had a much better career at TNA than I did WWE. I was there a lot longer, too. So most of my career was in TNA. A lot of the WWE fans didn’t see me. So now I have the opportunity of having the fans being allowed to see me compete in TNA and perform. It just…I know it’s going to happen eventually. I just never thought it would in a million years, but you know, now that they have partnered and they’re both, invested in each other. I think eventually they’re going to buy the library.”

This past Friday’s ROH Death Before Dishonor 2025 event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania featured The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson) defeating The Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) in a tag team match. Bennett recently reflected on Twitter about him making his return to the 2300 Arena for the first time since 2021. Bennett statedIt felt really, really fucking good to be back last night. 2300 Arena, Ring of Honor, Death Before Dishonor. I’d be lying if I didn’t say I didn’t know what kind of reaction we were going to get; the Kingdom and ECW Arena, we have a love-hate relationship. There’s a lot of hate on their side, but they love to hate us. So last night, it was tricky. I didn’t know what was gonna happen. I was a little nervous. Fuck, man, you guys brought the love. You brought the love 100%. I can’t thank you enough. It’s just those moments like that. Last night was what I got. I have got goosebumps thinking about it. Last night was a moment I’m just going to remember forever. I’m going to appreciate it forever. I’m going to have that stored. It’s a core memory that’s going to stick in there forever, because I spent so many moments in my career in that building, so many moments with Taven, so many moments with Maria, so many moments with all the ROH guys, and that was just special. It was really, really fucking special. I’m constantly telling myself in the bad times that this too shall pass, but I need to remember the good times to remind myself that this too shall pass. I remember doing that in the ring last night after the match, lying there and crawling over to Taven and telling him that I love him and that that was so much fun. I just remember thinking to myself, appreciate this, because this too shall pass. This moment will go away. But if you just appreciate it now, it’ll last somewhere in the heart, somewhere in the brain forever.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)

In a recent interview with the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, former AEW wrestler Jake Hager, former Jack Swagger in WWE, gave his thoughts about his recent decision to retire from wrestling. Hagger stated “I had done it since 2006, dedicated a lot of my best parts of my life to the sport, roughly 17-18 years, very grateful. Had a good gig for most of that and blessed to have done it. Because pro wrestling is very tough to get into, and there’s literally hundreds of thousands of people who want to become pro wrestlers, and it’s grown every day. Like I said, I don’t watch it anymore. So I think for me, I had accomplished everything that I really cared about and wanted to move on for the longest time. I always was like, what am I going to do after pro wrestling? What trade do I have? And this is a great story, I rode with Dutch Mantell for years, and I’ll put winning the World Heavyweight Championship up there with riding with Dutch Mantell, it was that important to my career, the things that I learned, the things that he taught me, and just his f*cking funny phrases. The guy has just a way with words. He could insult you and you’re like, Thank you Dutch. But he was always like ‘Jack, whatever you do from here, you gotta use what you did in pro wrestling at the WWE, the way they use you. You gotta use that background in whatever you venture into next.’ And if you think about it like that, advice always stuck with me. Okay, I could be a salesperson because I can talk on the mic in front of live people, or I could be endearing and be vulnerable at the same time. So that could help me with something else, but pretty much with pro wrestling, you’re a professional driver. You are gone Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and then you’re home Wednesday, home 36 hours, and then you’re back out on Friday, and every single one of those days, you’re in a rental car, and you are driving town to town, making the town. So that really stuck with me, and it kind of like influenced me to go into the truck driving business, because I’m already a professional driver. I told Vince this once, the wrestling I’ll do for free, you got to pay me for the driving. And so it kind of led me to where I’m at now, and I’m excited.” (Transcript h/t: Fightful.com)
