Jay White Broken Hand Injury Update

As noted before, Jay White has been out of action for AEW since this past April due to a broken hand injury. Besides the hand injury, White has also been dealing with a shoulder injury that could potentially require surgery.

Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that White’s broken hand likely would have healed by now due to the current length of time he has been away bur due to his shoulder injury, he will be out longer than originally planned by AEW officials.

Sapp reported that the current belief is that White will not return to AEW television this year.

Swerve Strickland Comments on Meaning of Five-Star Matches in Wrestling & His Mission for His Matches

Complex Sports held a recent interview with Swerve Strickland. One of the topics discussed included Strickland’s thoughts about the meaning of five-star matches in wrestling and him not explicitly aiming for it for his mission goal for his matches.

“I didn’t really have a five-star match until I got to All Elite Wrestling. So that’s just three years I’ve really been getting that kind of recognition. I’ve heard, like, I’m the one Black wrestler with the most in history. So it’s something that I pride myself in — just putting on something that’s like a classic. I wouldn’t necessarily put stars next to it, but I do appreciate putting on something that people are just going to remember for a very, very long time. And if the stars come with that, that’s awesome. But I just want to make sure, like, when I leave the ring [I] put on a great performance and a great match.”

Bryan Danielson Responds to Video of Him Doing “Yes!” Chant in 2001

As noted before, Bryan Danielson had revealed in a panel appearance at this past July’s Starrcast Texas convention that WWE had contacted him asking him to stop doing his “Yes” chants at non-WWE wrestling shows. WWE’s requests for Danielson over their claims of him infringing on their intellectual property for the chants were later revealed to have gone as far back as 2021 following his departure from the company.

In a now deleted tweet, Danielson responded to a recent video posted on Twitter of Danielson competing at an indie show in October of 2021 and was seen doing the “Yes!” chant.

This video predates UFC fighter Diego Sanchez doing the same style chant taunt at UFC 95 in February of 2009, which Danielson stated in the past he got the inspiration from, and his usage of the chant during his career in WWE.
