Doc Gallows Comments on Vince’s McMahons 2023 WWE Return Being “Everything Got Weird”
PWMania held a recent interview with Doc Gallows, former Luke Gallows in WWE. One of the topics discussed included Gallows’ thoughts about Vince McMahon’s brief return to WWE in 2023 following his initial resignation over allegations of sexual misconduct and hush money settlement payments towards several former female employees and talent.
“Yeah, when we came back in October of 2022, it felt great. It felt fresh. It felt new. Then, a few short months later, we’re in New York and we’re getting ready to leave the building and a limousine pulls up and we see a mustachioed man pop out and it was Vince McMahon coming back for the first time, we happened to see him in the parking garage.
I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors there, but from that point on, everything certainly got weird. Whether it was the Vince thing and then the eventual sale to TKO and however that timeline worked. But, you know, you could feel the winds of change. So the last year or so of that contract, we were there, you’re getting paid, you’re doing your thing but it was kind of like golden handcuffs for us because we love to be doing something, we love to be active, we love to be entertainers, and we number one love to be professional wrestlers. So, you’re just kind of spinning your wheels when you’re just kind of on the sidelines. It was what it was, no hard feelings.”
Ric Flair Comments on Chris Jericho WWE Return Rumors & His Doubts Jericho Would Get Cena-Type WWE Sendoff
Escapist Magazine held a recent interview with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. One of the topics discussed included Flair’s thoughts about the recent rumors of Chris Jericho returning to WWE once his contract with AEW expires after this year and his doubts that Jericho would receive a Cena-type sendoff for his career in WWE.
“Well, of course I do because Chris has meant a lot to the business. But I don’t think he’ll get it. I’m sure he’ll go to the Hall of Fame. I mean, he’s been a Hall of Fame athlete, human being, wrestler, everything. But I would doubt very seriously if he’d get the kind of deal that John Cena got. I could be wrong. I would enjoy it. But John had a level of popularity very similar to The Rock’s. He was huge. Everyone loved him. It might be a bit of a stretch to see him back in there, but you never know.”
Grayson Waller Comments on His New Day Status & Dropping “Dead Weight” of Austin Theory
A recent episode of WWE’s RAW Recap podcast featured Grayson Waller as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Waller’s thoughts about if he is currently an official member of New Day and him dropping the “dead weight” of Austin Theory.
“They said we were gonna talk about it. I think we were supposed to talk about that today actually… I think Xavier (Woods) was playing video games or something but, you know, I think that’s something they are talking about. I’ve got rid of the dead weight of Austin Theory and this is the best I’ve ever felt in my life. I feel so good. I’m in the best shape of my life. Do you know how hard it is to deal with someone with an IQ of 65? That might be high. I saw him on the plane. He said, ‘I read a really good book.’ He was reading The Cat in the Hat, and he was struggling. He was on each page for at least 12 minutes trying to work out the words. That’s tough to have to take care of someone so it’s nice now, The New Day, helping me out, taking care of me. They’re showing me how things work, you know? So soon as you get on the bus, sit at the back with the big dogs. You know we have to show that we kind of run the place. They’re teaching me things like that.”
Waller also gave his thoughts about Theory’s match against John Cena at WrestleMania 39 and claimed that “nobody cared” that Theory beat Cena and also claimed he saved Theory’s career in WWE.
“Am I wrong? Am I wrong about Austin Theory? You know what Austin Theory never did? He never said thank you to me for saving his career. You remember that time John Cena buried him live on national television? I remember that. That’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever seen. I watch that at least once a week… and the thing is I remember going to WrestleMania that year. I was with NXT, I’m up in the stands with Carmelo Hayes and I watched Theory beat John Cena and no one cared, and I was like, I know how to make an impact on the main roster. How do I make an impact on the main roster? I’m gonna save Austin Theory’s career, and that’s exactly what I did. He’s never been more relevant than when he was with Grayson Waller. We won the World Tag Team Championships. Who pulled ‘em down? I did. He was losing all the matches. I was helping this guy, and where is he now? Who cares? He’s not at work. I’m flying all over the world. I feel like I’ve been set free. This is the best I’ve felt in years. Since NXT, this is the best I’ve felt because I don’t have to worry about him. I just have to worry about me. We were separated anyway. If he comes back, we’ll have words. I’ve got no problem saying that to his face if he can understand. I’ll have to talk really slow.”
