As noted before, former WWE wrestler AJ Lee is currently expected to be making her return to WWE soon for this month’s Wrestlepalooza event. Lee’s return had been teased following this past Sunday’s Clash in Paris event and this past Mondy’s WWE RAW show over Becky Lynch getting involved in CM Punk’s feud with Seth Rollins.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that WWE’s current plans for tonight’s WWE SmackDown show at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois is for the show to close out with a promo segment featuring current WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch.
Johnson reported that Lynch is currently scheduled to be involved in a confrontation with CM Punk during this segment to continue their storyline feud for the lead up to AJ Lee’s return to WWE.
In regards to the opener for the show, Johnson reported that John Cena is currently scheduled to open the show and have an in-ring interaction with current WWE United States Champion Sami Zayn. This reportedly is scheduled to lead to a match between the two during the show’s first hour.
