MVP on “Stevie Richards’ Assessments Are Wrong, Kyle Fletcher Comes To Me All The Time For Advice”

As noted before, former WWE and ECW wrestler Stevie Richards was involved in an online incident earlier this month that revolved around a video he released criticizing Kyle Fletcher’s ring work and AEW’s backstage culture. Richards also had claimed that Fletcher would be better off going to WWE and learning in NXT if he wants to be a better wrestler. Fletcher later responded back stating that Richard’s claims about him were not made in good faith due to him knowing nothing about AEW’s actual culture.

A recent episode of TMZ’s Inside the Ring podcast featured MVP as the guest. One of the topics discussed included MVP’s thoughts about Richards’ recent comments and assessment being wrong and how Fletcher comes to him frequently to ask for advice on promos and matches.

“I like Stevie Richards, I would consider him somebody that I get along great with but his assessments are wrong. Kyle Fletcher comes to me all the time and asks me advice on promos. Periodically, he’ll come and ask me to watch a match and I’ll give him feedback. I will volunteer feedback to anyone that asks for it. I don’t go around to talent offering it, but if they seek me out and ask me for my 20 years of experience based advice, I will give it to them. My nickname for Kyle Fletcher is superstar because he looks like a star, but he’s still young. He’s got a lot to learn. I don’t think any of us at his age had it figured out yet and that would include Stevie. To say that there’s no one there to mentor him, I wouldn’t call Edge no one. I wouldn’t call Christian no one. I wouldn’t call Shelton Benjamin or Bobby Lashley no one. I think there are quite a few people there that can teach him quite a bit. His aptitude is pretty good, there are certain things you just got to remember. There’s also youthful exuberance and the young guys still want to go out there and do things that from a veteran standpoint several years down the road I don’t think they need to do. I think sometimes they do things gratuitously but it’s their road to travel. It’s for them to learn.

We all grow at our own pace, but I like Kyle a lot. He’s a smart kid. Thoughout wrestling, you’ll have young guys that ask veterans for advice because it’s the thing to do. Then you’ll have youngsters that ask veterans for advice because they genuinely want to apply it and get better and grow. I think Kyle is one of those guys.”
