Chris Jericho recently abandoned his trademark for “The Jericho Vortex” based on recent records from the United State Patent and Trademark Office.
The USPTO issued a notice of abandonment on October 21st regarding the official status of Jericho’s trademark filing.
The reason given for the abandonment was due to Jericho did not submit a statement of use nor an extension request in the six-month period after his trademark was officially allowed.
The application above is abandoned because we did not receive within six months of the Notice of Allowance (NOA) issue date: (1) A Statement of Use (SOU); or (2) A Request for Extension of Time to File a Statement of Use (Extension Request).
“The Jericho Vortex” was the term used by Jericho on AEW programming in a tongue-and-cheek response to criticisms from fans about how his opponents were worse off after facing him in AEW and calling it the Jericho Vortex effect.
Jericho’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire by the end of 2025 and he has been absent from the company since this past April. WWE and other promotions are currently interested in potentially signing Jericho to a contract once his AEW deal expires.
