As noted before, Penta suffered a shoulder injury during his Quarterfinal Round match against Solo Sikoa for WWE’s The Last Time Is Now Tournament at Monday’s WWE RAW show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Sikoa was awarded the victory after Penta was no longer able to continue due to his injury. Sikoa is currently scheduled to face off against Gunther in the Samifinal Round of The Last Time Is Now Tournament.
The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that his sources stated that Sikoa defeating Penta was always the planned outcome for their match despite Penta’s injury.
Alvarez reported that those spoken to stated that once it was clear that Penta had suffered an injury, Wade Barrett threw the show into a commercial break. Joe Tessitore reportedly was being fed information while the match was stopped.
Alvarez also reported that WWE officials had originally planned for the match to be around twelve minutes in length before it was stopped around four minutes into it due to Penta’s injury.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources confirmed that Penta’s injury was legitimate and not a storyline one.
