As noted before, Danhausen had been absent from AEW and Ring of Honor since February of 2023 with the exception of a surprise appearance he made at ROH’s Final Battle 2024 in December of 2024. Danhausen’s contract with AEW had been set to expire this past July but was extended for injury time to push it “well into 2026.”
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that Danhausen is very unlikely to make a surprise appearance at WWE’s Royal Rumble 2026 event next month in Saudi Arabia in response to a fan question about Danhausen’s current status.
Sapp reported that his sources stated that Danhausen’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire in February of 2026.
Backstage Update on Young Bucks & Kenny Omega Contracts
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp reported in a recent Q&A article that Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) contracts with AEW are currently set to expire in 2027.
Sapp reported that Omega had signed a four-year extension during the summer of 2023 with the option of injury time to be added if AEW decided to do so.
In regards to the Young Bucks, Sapp reported that the Young Bucks’ current contracts go through 2027 but it is currently not known if they still hold their Executive Vice President (EVP) positions in the company.
In regards to a potential future with WWE, Sapp speculated that he doubts Omega would ever jump to WWE due to him being aware that his match ability has limitations at this point but there is a significant higher chance of the Young Bucks leaving and signing with WWE.
Chris Jericho AEW Abscense & Potential WWE Return Update
As noted before, Chris Jericho’s contract with AEW is currently set to expire by the end of 2025 and he has been absent from the company since this past April. During his time away, Jericho had reached out to WWE about a potential return to the company once his contract with AEW expires. WWE recently offered Jericho a retirement storyline if he were to return to their company. Jericho’s band Fozzy recently released several dates for their upcoming tours in the U.S. and U.K. that was notable for not having any concerts scheduled for January 31, 2026, which is the date of WWE’s Royal Rumble 2026, nor December 27th or March 15, 2026, which are the dates of AEW’s Worlds End 2025 and Revolution 2026 events.
Jericho provided an update earlier today on Twitter announcing that he will be holding a “Christmas Dinner with the Winnipeggers” event on December 27th on YouTube starting at 9PM EST.
WE’RE PUTTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER!! Come join us on Dec 27 at 9 pm EST for the (possible) triumphant return of #TheWinnipeggers! We have no script, no ideas, and no clue what we are gonna do….so it’s pretty much par for the course! Only on my @youtube channel! pic.twitter.com/XAVrdbnSrR
