As noted before, Kota Ibushi has been out of action for AEW since this past October due to a broken femur injury and surgery. Ibushi made a special appearance for NJPW at their Wrestle Kingdom 20 event this past January in Tokyo, Japan to be part of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s in-ring wrestling career retirement ceremony.
Ibushi provided an update earlier today on Instagram stating that he had recently underwent a second surgery after a screw in his leg came loose and he is currently recovering.
Ibushi also stated that he was able to shorten his hospitalization stay from the expected two weeks to just three days in total.
“I was admitted to the hospital four days ago. On the next day, three days ago, I woke up because I endured too much anesthesia in my body, but I successfully reduced my schedule to stay in the hospital for two weeks to three days. I went home after staying in the hospital for a long time!
Great screws removed. This time two spots are fixed perfectly. Be sure to rest! Iibuku must be calm!! I’ve been told a few times but I’m doing it my way. Thank you and thank you for letting me go to rehabilitation.”
