Backstage Update on Kenny Omega’s Schedule After Swerve Strickland Attack Angle at Feb. 18th AEW Dynamite Show
As noted before, Kenny Omega’s status for this March’s AEW Revolution 2026 event was believed to be in doubt due to his current commitments with Capcom for this year’s Capcom Cup tournament in Japan during that same week. Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite show in Sacramento, California featured Swerve Strickland defeating Omega in a singles match. This match was notable for Strickland turning heel after attacking Omega following the match that involved Strickland hanging Omega by a chain and afterwards sending him through the announcer’s table with a Vertebreaker.
Fightful Select reported that their sources within AEW stated that this match was put on Wednesday’s show due to Omega having some scheduling conflicts coming up. Omega reportedly informed AEW of the conflict several months ago and the match against Strickland was put on Dynamite as a result.
It was reported that Omega could potentially still make an appearance at Revolution but at the moment, he is not planned to wrestle at the upcoming event.
