WrestleCon Promoter Michael Bochicchio Says Leon Slater Wasn’t Going To Lose To Ricochet & Had No Communication With TNA Prior To Match Being Pulled from Supershow 2026 Event

As noted before, TNA Wrestling recently changed their policy no longer allowing contracted TNA talents to work on the same indies shows as AEW talents, specifically in regards to matches involving TNA talents competing against contracted AEW talents. Among the matches pulled by TNA included Leon Slater’s match against Ricochet for WrestleCon’s Mark Hitchcock Memorial Supershow 2026 event.

Post Wrestling held a recent interview with WrestleCon promoter Michael Bochicchio. One of the topics discussed included Bochicchio’s thoughts about his side of the situation and how they had went directly to both TNA President Carlos Silva and AEW CEO Tony Khan about the planned match and how Slater was not booked to lose the match.

“We went directly to Leon’s boss. We went directly to Ricochet’s boss. We told them what the finish of the match would be to protect the individual. A lot of people think, ‘They didn’t want Leon to lose.’ Guys, I’m going to be honest, Leon wasn’t losing. Come up with a different theory on why they pulled him because that had nothing to do with it. The match and finish were cleared.”

Bochicchio also gave his thoughts about how he only found out about the match being cancelled when he read it online and Silva only contacted him after the match had been cancelled and replaced with a new match. Bochicchio also stated that he has not heard from Silva again after that text message Silva had sent to him.

“The first communication I got from TNA was about two hours before their PPV on Saturday. Mr. Silva sent me a text saying he would like to communicate. That was after we changed and replaced the match. I still haven’t spoken to him. I said, ‘Sure, call me anytime.’ I haven’t heard from him.”

Bochicchio also gave his thoughts about his belief that Slater’s match against Ricochet was not on WWE’s radar due to everything else going on this week for the company.

“I believe Carlos got upset AEW ran on a Thursday, hurt their ratings, and everything changed. That’s my opinion. Maybe WWE has more involvement than we ever thought, but Carlos can say to WWE, ‘Guys, I gave my word on this match. I would like to be able to follow through with my word.’”
