As noted before, John Cena recently teased on social media that he will be having a role at WWE’s Backlash 2026 event on May 9th in Tampa, Florida. The host venue, Benchmark International Area, recently has been advertising Cena’s appearance for this upcoming event despite WWE not making an official announcement yet.
Cena provided an update earlier today confirming that he will be making an appearance at this weekend’s WWE Backlash 2026 event. Cena stated he will be breaking “some history-making news” at the event.
“It’s official! I’m headed to #WWEBacklash! After months of planning and effort, I am SO excited to break some history-making news! I can’t promise it’ll be perfect but I can promise it will change the WWE experience for Superstars and fans! C U Live Saturday in Tampa or at home on the @espn app!”
