As noted before, New Day’s Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston departed from WWE this past Saturday following a mutual decision from both sides over New Day not accepting a new restructured deal offer.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that new Day were not the only talents who were asked by WWE and their parent company TKO Group to take a pay cut. Those spoken to reportedly stated that a “pretty majorly pushed” talent was also recently asked to take a 50% pay cut. Johnson reported that this talent allegedly agreed to do so in order to remain in the company.
Johnson reported that the identity of this talent is something he has yet to confirm.
The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that he had heard the same from his sources and this person is not a “tippy top person” in terms of star status in WWE.
Meltzer reported that there have been recent raises in WWE and there have also been people who were recently asked to take pay cuts. Meltzer also reported that none of the people who WWE currently views as actual top stars for the company have been asked to take a pay cut.
