A recent episode of the What Do You Wanna Talk About with Cody Rhodes podcast featured Kit Wilson as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Rhodes’ thoughts about his belief that WWE and other wrestling promotions are giving an overload of information to fans to the point where fans don’t care.
“Now, everything is documented. It’s scary. It’s scary, but it also holds you accountable. I’m in my head about some of the things of late where every single piece of WWE right now, and every wrestling company, somebody needs to share and put it out there. I think what’s going to happen is an overload of information to the point where fans just stop caring. ‘I watch the show, I like the show, I like this guy, I don’t like that guy.’ I don’t need to know how many people were in the seats. It’s wild. I don’t know who is keeping all these records, but I’m getting tired of, ‘What do we need this for? Who is this for?’ It seems like it’s doing great.”
Rhodes also gave his thoughts about a trip he had to WWE’s headquarters in preparation for a potential post-wrestling career for him in the company.
“I wanted to go to the office to see what life would be like at the office at WWE HQ. I had a career before as Executive Vice President (at AEW), and I failed at it. I had some success along the way, but failed. Ultimately, I learned a great deal from said failure, but I wanted to go and I wanted to treat it like I was going there for a job. I wrote up a full tech format, times, and everything. Not a dreamer one, I took what we had now to go share it with Bruce Prichard and the creative team. I wanted to go to CPG and meet with Lee Fitting and his team and these departments. Not a three-minute ‘Hi,’ no, ‘What can I really do for you? Do I get anywhere?’ I didn’t want to be unprepared. I reached out to as many people as I could on the roster and said, ‘What’s an idea for you? What’s something you want to do?’ Some people called me, some people didn’t reply, some sent a nice text with a simplified note. You [Kit Wilson] didn’t send me a text or voicemail. I have nine full-blown PDFs. At every meeting I was in, I almost spoke about you.”
