As noted before, former WCW wrestler and AAA creative member Konnan, real name Carlos Santiago Espada, was hospitalized this past March and was believed to have had one of his legs amputated due to medical complications. Konnan’s other leg was believed to be in serious danger of also being amputated due to his medical situation.
A recent episode of The Coach & Bro Show podcast featured co-host Vince Russo found out that Konnan has gone through a double leg amputation after a recent talk with him to check on him.
“Konnan has gone through a double leg amputation. I knew he had the one leg amputated and the second one was in question. That was the last time I talked to him, probably about two months ago. They had to remove the second one. So I called Konnan yesterday. I didn’t talk to him long, man. Because he’s very weak. He’s going through grueling rehabilitation. You know, learning how to — I can’t even imagine that. You can’t imagine that. So he really, really sounded exhausted.”
Russo also stated that Konnan had told him that WWE has paid for all of his medical expenses
“Konnan said to me that the WWE has paid every single cent of his medical bills. And that’s got to be pointed out and that’s got to be said.”
Russo also stated that he estimated that Konnan’s medical bills could have been well over $1 million including his rehab.
