Misc. Wrestling News & Notes

Sports apparel company Under Armour recently announced that they have collaborated with NJPW talents Knockout Brothers’ OSKAR and Yuto-Ice for a new merchandise collection set that will officially go on sale starting on June 14th.

The Commercial Appeal reported that the Memphis city council held a meeting on June 9th and voted in approval to rename a street in honor of WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend Jerry “The King” Lawler.

NJPW recently announced that Kosei Fujita will be collaborating with rock band ROTTENGRAFFTY for a live music and pro wrestling event. This upcoming event is called ROTTENGRAFFTY vs. Kosei Fujita and will be taking place on August 19th in Osaka, Japan. ROTTENGRAFFTY is the band who produced Fujita’s “JAPANESE YOUNG PUNK” entrance theme song in NJPW.

As noted before, AEW talents Brian Cage and Lance Archer were among the wrestlers involved in the filming of a wrestling scene for an upcoming new film by legendary director Steven Spielberg. Archer recently confirmed on Twitter that the film he worked was the upcoming new Disclosure Day film. Archer shared a clip from the film and stated “If you guys go see #disclosureday this wknd. Keep an eye out for @briancagegmsi @mexwarrior and myself!“

In a recent interview with The Ariel Helwani Show, Major League Wrestling and indies talent Killer Kross gave his thoughts about the Mask vs. Mask match between Original El Grande Americano and El Grande Americano at Lucha Libre AAA’s Noche de Los Grandes Week 1 event this past May. Kross stated “I would say that match is the full menu. You’re giving them everything: the technical aspect, the gaga, the drama, the Shakespeare, blood, weapons, people running down, an amazing finish, and there is this stipulation involved. It’s everything in one match. I’ve always said that [Roddy] Piper and Hitman [Bret Hart] is a match you can show people who don’t like wrestling or if you want to introduce them into wrestling, that’s a match you show them because there is a story there. The Grande Americanos, I honestly believe that’s a match you can show someone who does not watch wrestling, and it can hook them as a fan.
