Maya World Comments on Her Women’s Owen Hart Cup Finals Match Against Mercedes Mone & Her Initial Goal for Her Wrestling Career
MuscleManMalcolm held a recent interview with Maya World. One of the topics discussed included World’s thoughts about her upcoming match against Mercedes Mone for the Finals of this year’s Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament and what this match means to her.
“It means everything to me. Of course, cause she’s someone who I’ve got to get a lot of inspiration from. It hasn’t fully settled in for me what I’m doing. I just know that I’m going in and I have this mission in mind to win for my brother. I’m just very excited see what’s going to happen on Sunday.”
World also gave her thoughts about how she is wrestling with her emotions ahead of one of the biggest matches of her wrestling career following the tragic passing of her brother in a car accident.
“Yeah mentally it’s been really tough, but it’s just something that I know a lot of people are looking to me and seeing how I’m getting by. I’m just trying to be strong for myself, for my family and for my brother because I’m doing it for him. A lot of it hasn’t settled in for me, which is why it’s a little bit easy. I’ve been feeling a lot of numbness, so it kind of feels like I’m on a mission and it’s full steam ahead honestly. I’m just using that momentum that’s in my heart and my brain to get through these matches. I beat my mentor and now I’m going on to face my idol.”
World also gave her thoughts about her initial goal for her wrestling career was to make everybody know her name and her being thankful for AEW CEO Tony Khan being the one to notice her.
“Whenever I first started on the indies, one of my main goals was to make everybody know my name. It’s a delusional thing to say, but that’s exactly what I wanted to do. I did a little bit of that, then it was taking that momentum and making a name for myself so Tony Khan could notice, or someone else could notice. Thank God, it was Tony Khan, though. Things like that, every time I’m focused on something, it happens for me. It’s not divine intervention or something. I truly work for everything I’ve gotten. I wouldn’t say I’m not surprised, that sounds so bad, but I know what I put into getting here in AEW. Also at the time, I’d seen so my friends getting signed around the same time, a few months before my friends Jada Stone and Maggie Lee, like they had got signed. So being another of those younger girls who are a part of the next generation was a big goal of mine. Thankfully we did that, even if it came in an unethical way, it still happened. I’m here now, and I’m making the most of every opportunity now I’m here.”

Adam Copeland Comments on “95% Of The Matches I Want Are Still Out There” for His Wrestling Career Future
CBS Sports’ Shakiel Mahjouri held a recent interview with Adam Copeland. One of the topics discussed included Copeland’s thoughts about the future of his in-ring wrestling career and him still having a lot to check off his list for dream matches.
“About 95% of the matches I want are still out there, which is pretty cool.”
Copeland also gave his thoughts about first-time matches against Will Ospreay, Samoa Joe, Swerve Strickland, Kyle Fletcher, “Hangman” Adam Page, and a tag team bout against The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) being his choices for potential future matchups for him in AEW.
Copeland also gave his thoughts about his potential retirement plans and him mapping out the future of his career with AEW CEO Tony Khan.
“That’s shifted and had to change. I broke my leg. That put me out for a bit. And then filming ‘Beekeeper’ and ‘Percy Jackson [and the Olympians].’
The amazing part here is that Tony [Khan] and I sit down and we map away to try and pull it all off, and he’s understanding of that too, which is really nice to be able to juggle two careers, because I never did this before.”
